First, apologies, but no pictures in this post.
I've often posted about fun moments with Alex, but today, I got to experience a truly wonderful moment solely with Will. Laura had gone swimming at 6:00 am (I know, hard to believe she'd get up that early, right?), and I had finished my morning ride on the bike trainer, when Will decided he was finished sleeping around 6:15. Alex was still happily snoring away, so I took Will downstairs for a diaper change and some quality Daddy time.
We typically "come alive" in the mornings by opening the shades and letting the early morning light into the living room. So, I did that, revealing a fresh dusting of snow on the ground, which had fallen during the night (and was actually, still falling that morning). I picked up Will so he could look out the window, and I said "Look at the snow, Will!" I made sure to draw out the word "snow" and put some emphasis on it. He pointed out the window and said "snow," mimicking my inflection (although the "s" was very faint, and it sounded more like "no"). I had never heard him say this before, so we continued to practice for a while, before moving to the couch where Will could enjoy a small breakfast of Corn Bitz (think generic Corn Chex) and some milk.
We just had the best time hanging out together. He played with my ID badge while I watched the news and occasionally reached over to tickle him. I think I'll remember that morning forever!
As an aside, Alex, too, has learned "snow." When I got home this evening, he was happy to repeat it back to me several times. We had two little boys running through the house singing "snow! snow!" It seems as though they will be breaking through with many more words in the not-so-distant future. I can't wait! Or can I? :)
